This.

Amateur Video.

Now a reality. Now that Nowhere Fast is no more, me and Adam have swapped vocals for guitar and vice-versa, recruited Dawson (previously of Hammer Attack vocal fame) for the bass and ex-Abandon Ship stickman Matt Devine behind the pots 'n pans.

He's got...

Social Circkle - 'City Shock' LP - No Way Records

Picked this up the very day it came out whilst on my US trip in september last year. In fact I'm quite sure Brandon at Vinyl Confilct was unpacking the boxes they arrived in as we walked into the shop. I love this band. Nowhere Fast got to play with them three times on their European tour last year (would have been four times if it wern't for the bullshit traffic on the way to London...) and they were amazing every night, despite some pretty unappreciative crowds and some very weird sound in Leeds.
One of my favourite current 'early 80s revival' bands, Social Circkle lean hard on the punk end of the hardcore punk scales, taking influence from late 70s bands such as Lost Kids and Teenage Head as well as faster early 80s bands such as the FUs and Zero Boys. I just could not stop listening to this LP. A healthy combination of pounding mid-paced punk rock and ripping fast songs with some great lyrics, alot of outsider kind of issues without straying into the 'Nothing Left Inside' creepy kind of mental anguish / serial killer potential zone. This record basically picks up where the two great EPs left off; great guitar sound, driving bass, awesome drumming, simple yet intelligent songwriting, and tons of energy. Fans of bands like Regulations and Shitty Limits will love this. If this kind of thing is your bag then this is a flawless record. 11 songs, out now on No Way Records.

WWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

If you like music, and I mean actually LIKE music, then you should like The Sonics. It's that simple. I only really got into this band over the last couple of years and it has changed my life for the better. Just put on the ''Here Are The Sonics!'' album and do your best not to dance. Imagine all the best elements of late 50s rock'n'roll and early 60s soul, add in some thundering drums, manic howling vocals and THAT overdriven fuzz guitar, and you've got The Sonics. To say punk wouldn't have happened without the Sonics would be a bit daft, but I'm pretty sure they sped things along a bit.

And here's that guitar tone I was talking about...

Just like witches at black masses.

So you've just made it nice and safely out of the 60s. Only to get smashed squarely in the teeth by these Brummie gents. The boys in 1970, incredible.

Skeletal Dan

You heard it here first, Danny has called out a 2010 comeback...

Name: Danny / Skeletal Dan / The Crow / Asda
Age: 21
Location: Wallasey, my bedroom.
Bike Setup: No pegs, no brakes, everything overly tight, lots of psi in me tires.
Favourite spot in Liverpool:I really cant think so its deffo not but i like that kinda big 5 set down the side of some warehouse buildings just next to Toys r us.. With a bit of wood up the stairs it makes a real good fly out. If theres no wood though, theres a really cool fly out over the road which is perfect. apart from addi nearly broke his skull on the sketchy run up to it. That was just before Tank burst out off his shorts on the way to the echo ledges. Funny day.
Favourite out of town spot: I have a big soft spot for Woodside and the Civi.
Favourite city to ride aside from Liverpool: I love the asthetic of Barcelona but Cologne for me was just amazing. If i had to go back to one or the other just for the sake of riding it would be cologne.

Least shit artificial stunt premises: The 'shire aka Dev green. Best skatepark ever.
One trick you do alot: i like doing 360s out of stuff. thats pretty much all i can do.
Top 3 BMX videos: top 300 wouldnt be enough. for now ill just say Nowhere Fast, Animal(s), Criminal Mischeif
Top 3 BMX video sections: Van Homan Criminal Mischeif. Vinnie Sammon - Can i eat. Dave Young - nowhere fast. I could name 30 but they were the first few vids I had seen so they stick out... Oh and Stricker in Please Kill Me.
Top 3 music: bands or genre? well today ive listened to DS-13. The Replacements. Dropdead. But this can change daily and depending on mood.
Top 3 B-Team riders: I like everyone for different reasons i could never pick a favourite!
Top 3 UK riders: Chris Mainprize aka Mainy of fashion fame ( best barspin and a cracking blogger http://melonthree.blogspot.com/) thats it.
Top 3 Worldwide riders: Colt Fake, Sean burns and chester blacksmith interest me. Not saying they are typicaly the best just fun to watch.
Favourite clip on the B-Team DVD: Ryan 360ing the civi gap to perfection. Brilliant filming from me aswell!
One person who needs to come out riding more: Tank and Ryan. But realisticly probably me.
One trick you never need to see again: Anything Dakota roach does never needs to be seen anyone.
One BMX trend that does your head in: Im not really bothered by things like that. Its kinda middle of the road but if someones happy doing something and it dosnt affect me then who am i to judge.
One difference between a real street rider and a fake: whether or not they were riding street 2 years ago... and if you owned a rampworks membership theres no arguing really is there?
One rider that does your head in: Miles Roogish. Maybe its not so much his fault because all hes doing is making videos of him and his friends which is cool i can dig that, but they are mediocre at best and every time i see the words "Tuesdays with Miles" on the come up i want to physicaly fight my computer screen.
One crap BMX video off the top of your head: Brighton Aint Ready... the name and the whole concept of the video is enough to make me hate it. (Nicky Croft is brill though)
Something that's boss: Playing football is fun.
Something that's shit: cold toes and hands when your trying to ride. Thats enough to make me wanna go home.
One reason street riding is better than anything else: Its free, theres plenty of spots and its always nice to be outside.

Apple in your ear.

Happy new year and all that gear. 2010 B-Team year two...

An' another...

Name: Matthew Peter Devine
Age: 27
Location: Birkenhead
Bike Setup: 4 mother fucking pegs. Moderate seat height. Moderate bar size.
Favourite spot in Liverpool: The China Town ledges or around the Uni.
Favourite out of town spot: Lloyds in Bristol.
Favourite city to ride aside from Liverpool: Canberra in Australia is a covert street megaplex.
One city you want to ride: Berlin
Least shit artificial stunt premises: I suppose the boneyard but i haven't been there for about 5 years but the photos/footage you have look good, plus it was always a chill park. Anywhere with a good ledge and decent flat rail gets my vote aswell.
One trick you do alot: Barspins kid.
Top 4 BMX videos: Nowhere Fast, Pegleg 2007, AM:PM, Can I Eat?
Top 3 BMX video sections: Dave Young - Nowhere Fast, Grimaldo Duran - 1st Animal vid, Vinne Sammon - Can I Eat?
Top 3 music: at the moment Wasted Time, The Kids, Immortal Technique.
Top 3 B-Team riders: Addy, Tom Pimlott, Dan Roper
Top 3 UK riders: Bengo, Addy, Joe Cox
Top 3 Worldwide riders: Vinnie Sammon, Vic Ayala, Alex Raban.
Favourite clip on the B-Team DVD: Ryan's 3 into the big civi centre gap. Magnificent.
One person who needs to come out riding more: Vic Ayala
One trick you never need to see again: no handers where your hands go down instead of out down stairs and shit
One BMX trend that does your head in: thinking its ok to talk shit on EVERYTHING when you've only been riding a year, and like chris said the very fine line between hating things and whats 'acceptable'.
The difference between a real street rider and a fake: real street riders learn things on street, their bikes are dull colours and actually have scratches on them, they look like they have more fun, they actually sit and talk about things that are nothing to do with bmx, they're not as boring, they don't show up to a spot that you've been riding for ages and shut it down immediately with all the stuff they learned at the park... *ahem cough cough brighton ain't ready cough cough*, they don't look at you for approval when they land a trick, they ride in the freezing cold even when no 1 is filming them. street riders know who Vic Ayala is. street riders know the difference between tricks and stunts and can moderate and apply them in a taseful manner whilst riding street, ie manouvers vs. bike gymnastics. Grinds.
Butcher grind or Luc-E grind(there is a correct answer): Butcher. Easy.
One rider that does your head in: Daniel Dhers... gumshield? I've NEVER hurt my mouth riding my bike.
One crap BMX video off the top of your head: roundabout tour made me vomit.
Section you're most looking forward to on the new Animal vid: ralph sinisi
Something that's boss: when merlin puts 1 peg on right before trying the gnarliest brick feeble ledge ever. has it, then takes his single peg off and puts it back in his bag.
Something that's shit: that tv show 'Medium', she just dreams what happened then solves the crime. cop out.
One reason street riding is better than anything else: its free, you see funny stuff, you can do it when ever you want. its a completely organic and natural way to ride and it teaches you to become adaptable to all kinds of situations and people. its realistic.
Sign off: over and out.

Song of the week.

''Il Soffio Al Cuore Ha Il Suono Di Un Fischietto'' by Smart Cops from Italy. How they cram so many catchy riffs and vocals into a song that only last 1 minute and three seconds is insane.

Get the 7" it's a beast, especially if you're a fan of the whole less-distorted garage style of hardcore punk, and is out on a rad label from North Carolina called Sorry State. I also have an mp3 of an apparently very rare one-sided 7" they did that is a 4-minute cover medley of classic anti-police songs from the likes of Doom, The Kids, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys etc. Well good!
